You must wear a buoyancy aid or life jacket when near water at our events. Even if you have no intention of falling in, accidents happen, a buoyancy aid/life jacket can only help you if your wearing it!

It is amazing how cold water can be, even on sunny days. Always wear warm waterproof clothing, hats, gloves should always be taken onboard a boat with you, the weather on the water can be very different from that on land. Once you become a regular sailor it is normal to purchase your own, most sailors opt for a drysuit which means you can wear normal clothes on the inside and stay nice and warm and dry. Always bring a change of clothing in case you do get wet. 

While we make every effort to help and advise, sailors are usually responsible for supplying their own clothing and safety apperatus, although clubs often hire out wet suits and life jackets.
